Senior Team Leader/Team Leader

Responsibilities:

  • Team leaders must supervise and assist with homework, as well as follow the daily schedule unless the Site Director instructs differently.

  • Create, plan, conduct, maintain and implement a variety of fun, enriching and engaging activities and recreational activities that must be developmentally appropriate and align with STEAMS monthly themes for groups; continually interacting with children, volunteers, staff, and parents

  • Lead and supervise small and large groups by recognizing potential issues and applying established program procedures and problem-solving methods as needed

  • Observe students' behavior, assess its appropriateness and apply appropriate behavior management techniques, positive redirection, or appropriate corrective action as necessary to support members in making positive behavior choices

  • Accurately complete and submit timecards, incident reports, rosters, and other program related materials in accordance with program policy

  • Attend scheduled staff meetings, training, and development activities

  • Create and maintain an engaging environment that fosters a sense of belonging for students.

  • Identify students and staff needs and communicate this to the Site Director

  • Team leaders must maintain cleanliness in all program areas to contribute to ongoing maintenance to keep the school or community site clean and orderly

  • Assist with the setup and breakdown each day

  • Maintain accurate attendance rosters with roll calls and continuous group counts – administering mandatory roll calls minimally at every rotation, before and after snack

  • Work cooperatively and collaboratively with staff, public officials, private sector officials, parents, and community leaders

Skills:

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills

  • Working knowledge of developmental needs of school age children

All staff members must be able to:

  • Create, plan, conduct, maintain and implement fun, engaging, and developmentally appropriate activities

  • Handle all conflicts and complaints in a professional manner as well adhere to all organizational site policies and procedures

  • Observe students' behavior, assess its appropriateness and apply appropriate behavior management techniques, positive redirection, or appropriate corrective action as necessary to support members in making positive behavior choices

  • Immediately reporting and documenting all injuries or incidents that occur on site

  • Maintain cleanliness in all program areas to contribute to ongoing maintenance to keep the school or community site clean and orderly

  • Always wear appropriate It’s About Time Afterschool uniforms

  • Frequently stand, walk, stoop, sit, crouch, bend, speak, and hear

  • Engage in physical activity with members without limitation

  • Lift, carry, pull, or otherwise move objects between 10 and 20 pounds

  • Maintain computer proficiency and posses strong oral and written communication skills

  • Be reliable and punctual by arriving on-time for scheduled shifts and completing assigned responsibilities in a timely and thorough manner

  • Work cooperatively and collaboratively with staff, students, parents, and school officials

Requirements:

  • Associates Degree preferred not required or 2 years in college

  • High School Diploma or GED required

  • Strong Math and English skills (K-12)

  • Strong verbal, oral, written communication skill

  • Must pass GBI comprehensive criminal background check and fingerprinting and maintain for employment

  • Must complete 10 hours of State-approved Health and Safety Orientation Training

  • Must be First Aid and CPR certification

  • At least 1 years of experience working with youth in a classroom or after school setting

  • Must complete 10 hours of Bright from the start training 

  • Bilingual-preferred not required
